Partnerships / Ottawa, Ontario

    Your client.
    Our craft.

Old Salt works behind the scenes with the professionals who lead the project. We bring the shop, the drawings, and the follow-through for your retail clients — while you keep the client relationship.

    The working agreement

We support the person who brought us into the room.

Our clients are often professionals with a point of view, a process, and a hard-earned trust with the people paying for the work. We respect all three.

Old Salt is not here to re-sell your idea, redirect your client, or make the project about our name. We are here to make the millwork part of your work stronger — with honest questions early, clear information throughout, and accountability when it reaches the room.

    Built for working relationships.

01—04 / Who we work with

Different disciplines need different kinds of support. The constant is a shop that understands when to contribute, when to ask, and when to get out of the way.

    01

    Interior designers

Bring us the intent, the elevations, and the detail you want to protect. We help resolve the buildable version without stepping into the relationship you have built with your client.

    02

    Architects

When millwork carries the architecture, our job is to make the drawings hold up in material. We stay close to the set, flag what matters, and keep the line of responsibility clear.

    03

    Renovators

Use us as the cabinetry partner your project needs: responsive at the right moments, exact about scope, and comfortable coordinating with the rest of the site team.

    04

    Contractors

A reliable shop should make the schedule easier to carry. We provide clear shop drawings, practical questions, and fitted work that arrives ready for the conditions you are managing.

What you can expect from us

Good communication is a fabrication tool.

We know the cost of a vague answer. A missed reveal, an unconfirmed material, a late hardware decision — each one travels further than it should. Our process is built to keep useful information moving while there is still time to act on it.

    • One connected conversation from brief to install
    • Shop drawings that give everyone something specific to approve
    • Questions raised early, without drama or blame
    • A measured response when a site condition changes

    Useful at every stage.

    02—04 / How we contribute
    01 / Early read

A second set of eyes on scope, materials, access, and the details most likely to affect cost or fit.

    02 / Design development

A connected path from concept and elevations into shop drawings, hardware, cut lists, and production.

    03 / Fabrication

CNC-supported manufacturing in our Ottawa-area shop, with the judgement to handle the parts that are not standard.

    04 / Site fit

Delivery and installation treated as part of the work, not a hand-off after the interesting decisions are over.

    The short version

“The best shop partner makes you look more prepared, not less necessary.”

That is the standard we try to meet — for the designer, architect, renovator, or contractor who trusts us with a piece of their work.

    A clear handoff
    starts early.

    03—04 / The Trade Desk
    01

    Send the context.

Share the drawings, schedule, location, and the questions already on your mind. An early set is welcome.

    02

    We read the job.

We look for scope, access, materials, coordination points, and the decisions that need a proper answer before pricing.

    03

    We agree on next.

That may be a site measure, shop drawings, a revised scope, or a clear reason to wait. The response should be useful either way.

    For the next good project

    at the useful moment.

A drawing set, a difficult detail, or a conversation about how the work should move is enough to start.
